Giza Pyramids Complex:

The Giza Pyramids Complex near Cairo is an enthralling archaeological site housing three major pyramids: the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure.

These grand structures were constructed as royal tombs for pharaohs and showcasing the unbelievable ancient engineering and architectural skills of the Egyptians.

The site also shows the dazzling Great Sphinx. The Giza Complex is visited by millions of tourists every year, and acts as a testament to the great legacy of the ancient Egyptian civilization.

The Great Pyramid of Khufu:

The Great Pyramid of Giza or the Pyramid of Khufu is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex.

This pyramid was constructed during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Egypt, and it was originally 146.6 meters tall which makes it the tallest man-made structure in the world.

The Great Pyramid was built as a royal tomb for pharaoh Khufu and took over 20 years to finish. This marvelous pyramid is made of an estimated 2.3 million limestone blocks, each weighing around 2.5 tons on average.

The Great Sphinx:

The Great Sphinx of Giza, which is one of the most iconic monuments in the world, stands on the Giza Plateau near Cairo. This statue was carved from a single limestone ridge, featuring the body of a lion and the head of a pharaoh. It's believed that the Sphinx represents the Pharaoh Khafre.

Estimated to have been built around 2500 BC, the Sphinx is a testament to ancient Egyptian civilization and remains shrouded in mystery regarding its original purpose and the methods used for its construction.

Despite millennia of effects of weathering and human interference, it still captivates the imagination of scholars and tourists alike.

The Valley Temple:

The Valley Temple on the Giza Plateau near Cairo is an ancient funerary structure associated with the Pharaoh Khafre. This temple was built during the Old Kingdom. This well-preserved temple features massive limestone and granite blocks, presenting advanced engineering skills of the ancient Egyptians.

The Valley Temple served as a place for the mummification process and religious rituals before the burial in the adjacent pyramid, and it is closely linked to the Great Sphinx, which lies nearby, and together they form an integral part of the complex that highlights the grandeur and sophistication of ancient Egyptian mortuary architecture.

Your delightful lunch is served at a local restaurant then you head to:

The Grand Egyptian Museum:

The museum originally included a library, conservation laboratories, and an extra area that extends to the Nile-bank, that later became the headquarters of the National Democratic Party.
