Day 1: Arrive in Cairo & Enjoy Dinner Cruise

Giza Pyramids Complex, situated on the outskirts of Cairo, is home to three major pyramids of the Old Kingdom’s rulers.

This magical complex was constructed over 4,500 years ago during the reign of 4th dynasty, these pyramids served as royal grand tombs for Cheops, Chephren and Menkaure.

The site also shows the Sphinx and Valley Temple of Khafre. These outstanding monuments present the remarkable achievements of ancient Egyptian engineering and their beliefs in the afterlife.

 

The Great Pyramid of Cheops:

The Great Pyramid of Giza, also known as the Pyramid of Khufu or Cheops, is the earliest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza Pyramids Complex.

This dazzling structure was built around 2560 BC during the reign of Pharaoh Khufu, and it originally stood at about 146.6 meters (481 feet) tall.

The pyramid was constructed from nearly 2.3 million stone blocks, each weighing several tons, it is an astounding feat of ancient engineering.

The Great Sphinx, located on the Giza Plateau near the Great Pyramids, is an iconic limestone statue with the body of a lion and the head of a human, believed to represent Pharaoh Khafre.

This mythical statue was carved directly out of the bedrock, which measures about 73 meters (240 feet) in length and 20 meters (66 feet) in height, making it one of the largest and oldest sculptures in the world.

Philae is an exceptional wonder filled with valuable monuments and treasures dedicated to Goddess Isis. The site dates back to 280 BC as a commemoration for the Ptolemaic and Roman rulers.

It was relocated to Agilkia Island after the erection of Aswan High Dam and the temple is the surviving witness on the tales of Isis and Osiris.

The Unfinished Obelisk:

Unfinished Obelisk was a representative for an everlasting archeological brilliance. It’s known as the greatest ancient obelisk, carrying the name of Queen Hatshepsut.

The High Dam:

Karnak Temple complex, located in Luxor, is one of the largest and most captivating religious sites from ancient Egypt. Karnak was primarily dedicated to the god Amun-Ra and developed over a span of 2,000 years, from the Middle Kingdom to the Ptolemaic period.

The site shows many monumental structures, including the Great Hypostyle Hall, with its massive columns and intricate carvings, and the Sacred Lake.

Queen Hatshepsut Temple:

Temple of Hatshepsut, situated at Deir El-Bahari on the west bank of the Nile near Luxor, was established during the reign of the female pharaoh Hatshepsut in the 15th century BC.

This mortuary temple is well-known for its distinctive terraced structure and colonnaded courtyards, as well as its detailed reliefs depicting the queen’s divine birth and successful trading expeditions.

This marvelous temple is a remarkable example of New Kingdom architecture and art.

 

Valley of the Kings:

Valley of the Kings is a royal burial site on the west bank of the Nile near Luxor. This historic site was used as the main royal cemetery for pharaohs and powerful nobles from the 16th to the 11th century BC.

The valley houses over 60 tombs, including those of Tutankhamun, Ramses the Great, and Seti I.

The tombs are famous for their elaborate decorations, sarcophagus and the extensive use of hieroglyphs and paintings to ensure a safe passage to the afterlife.

 

Colossi of Memnon:

Colossi of Memnon are two large stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, located on the west bank of the Nile near Luxor.

Each statue reaches approximately 18 meters tall and depicts the king seated on his throne. Originally flanking the entrance to Amenhotep’s mortuary temple, the statues are known for their impressive scale and for the phenomenon of their “singing” in the morning, which was attributed to the gods in ancient times.

This extraordinary fortress was the government center of country from the 13th to the 19th century and it’s one of UNESCO world heritage sites in Egypt.

 

Mohammed Ali Mosque:

It’s situated inside the Cairo Citadel, which was established in 1848 AD as the unique example of Ottoman architecture with the most beautiful Islamic artworks.

 

Al Muizz Street:

Al Muizz Street is known as one of the most glorious streets in Old Cairo, with its rich heritage and a precious historical background. It dates back to 970 AD, when it was built during the Fatimid Period.

This inspiring site houses incredible preserved Islamic architecture, with an extensive collection of palaces, mosques and mausoleums that reflect magnificent cultural and architectural beauty of Cairo.

 

Khan El Khalili:

Khan El Khalili is a historical souk, decorated by timeless marvels that depicts the rich culture and heritage of Egypt.

It’s one of the earliest known market places in the Middle East, which dates back to 1389 AD.

The bazaar displays an exquisite range of shops, textiles and jewelry.

 

After a day of exploration, we will transport you back to your hotel, where you will spend your night in Cairo.

Day 6: Embark on Fayoum Trip – Overnight Camping

The early morning hours are when you will be collected from your hotel in Cairo by your private guide to drive you for 95 km southwest of Cairo to witness the best highlights of Fayoum:

Lake of Qarun:

It’s the most charming example of truly majestic scenes of nature. Qarun is the first-existing natural lake on earth, which covers 52,000 acres of Fayoum, which is the main water source in Fayoum Oasis so the area was an important center for hunting and agriculture for many hundreds of years.

 

Wadi El Rayan:

The fabulous waterfalls of Wadi El Rayan is a unique protected area in Fayoum Valley, which highlights a magical quality of desert environment with natural springs and mesmerizing sand dunes, plus a wide variety of sea fossils and different images of botanical life.

 

Fayoum Water Wheels:

Fayium’s Water Wheels – or as it’s called “Sakia” – are a majestic engineering feat, which have been used for irrigation in the area through centuries.

It consists of huge wooden wheel, powered by cows or oxen to lift water from a well or a small canal. The site has a peaceful and unique ambiance, adding to the splendor of the surrounding landscapes.
