Itinerary Of Pyramids & Saqqara Tour From Sokhna
Egypt Tours Group picks you up from the exit door of your cruise ship at Sokhna Port. You will be transported to Cairo by a modern air-conditioned car to meet your private Egyptologist and start your Pyramids and Saqqara tour including
The Pyramids of Giza:
The three famous pyramids of Giza and their elaborate funerary complexes were erected during a frenetic period of construction, between approximately 2589 and 2566 BC. The pyramids were built by the pharaohs Cheops, Chefren, and Menkaure.
The Great Pyramid of Cheops:
It was the starting point of one of the largest architectural projects in history which was established by Pharaoh Khufu or Cheops around 2550 BC. It's also named as the Great Pyramid because it's the biggest of the three pyramids with a height of 146 meters. The structure is historically attributed to King Cheops, one of the best known pharaohs during the Old Kingdom period and it was used as a royal burial chamber for the king and his family.
The colossal limestone sculpture of Sphinx is among the most recognized monumental statues in the world which was founded in the Giza Plateau by the ancient Egyptians during King Khafre's reign. The Sphinx gained its fame due to its unfamiliar shape as since it's a single-stone carved statue of a lion with a human head.
Continue your tour at the Giza Complex with: The Valley Temple:
The Valley Temple is listed as one of the best preserved monuments and a living proof on how exceptional the architecture during the Old Kingdom's reign was. It's placed to the east of the pyramid of Khafre (Chefren) at Giza Complex and it was mainly erected for the mummification and purification process of the pharaoh's mummy before it had been taken to his final resting place inside the pyramid.
Proceed your lunch at a fine restaurant then we'll take you to see:
Saqqara Step Pyramid:
The brilliant architect Imhotep had the intention of turning the mastaba of Pharaoh Djoser, placed in Saqqara Complex into a historical staircase to heaven during the third dynasty. With a height of 60 meters, Saqqara stood as the highest structure that the pharaohs were undertaken up to that time. The pyramid was created of six mastabas to allow its Pharaoh Djoser to ascend the six steps of the pyramid to meet the god Ra in the afterlife.
Memphis City:
Memphis is situated on the west bank of the Nile Valley, around 20 kilometers south of Cairo. The city gained its significance because of being the first capital of ancient Egypt. Memphis was well known as the worship place of the God Ptah who gave life to all the other gods so it’s named “The Author Of All” so Memphis had a bustling position as an important political and religious center in the country. Finally, you will get transferred back to Sokhna Port by A/C vehicle.
