Trip to Kalabsha Temple and the Nubian Museum
Kalabsha Temple & Nubian Museum Day Tour from Aswan begins with a pickup from your hotel/Nile cruise in Aswan to join your guide and visit:
Kalabsha Temple:
Kalabsha Temple is an astonishing Ptolemaic and Roman structure, not unlike nearby Philae in its layout. The temple construction began in the late Ptolemaic dynasty and was completed during the reign of Emperor Augustus, and it was dedicated to the Nubian solar God Merwel.
Kalabsha belonged to the Greeks as Mandulis, and later it was used as a church. The temple includes a massive pylon, which is connected to the rest of the complex by a wall, making a closed space. There are stairs to the roof, giving a great view of the lake and a backup to the High Dam.
The Nubian Museum:
The Nubian Museum is one of the most amazing museums in Egypt and the whole world, as it has a unique architectural design. In 2001, this museum won the prize of Agha Khan as the most beautiful architectural building in the world.
It houses about 3,000 masterpieces from various eras, divided into 17 diverse and vibrant exhibition sections that reflect the rich history and culture of Nubia.
These sections include the Nubia region, the Nubian environment, the origin of the Nile Valley, the prehistoric era, the Neolithic civilization, the pyramids era, the Nubian medieval era, the Nubian Kingdom of Kush, the Egyptian Civilization in Nubia, the 25th Dynasty, the Kingdom of Meroe, the Late Period, Christian Nubia, Islamic Nubia, the irrigation zone, the international campaign to rescue Nubian monuments, and the folklore section.
Lunch is served at a delightful Nubian restaurant, then you will return to your hotel/Nile cruise in Aswan.
