Luxor Day Trip from Aswan Itinerary:
At the break of dawn, your Luxor Day Trip from Aswan begins as we pick you up from your hotel and take you to the train station to catch the 1st class train to Luxor. You will be accompanied by a private Egyptologist tour guide to explore the most renowned Luxor tourist attractions, including:
Karnak Temple Complex:
Start your Lxur tour with a visit to Karnak Temple Complex, located in Luxor, which is one of ancient Egypt's most prominent and significant religious centers. It was built over 1,800 years and dedicated to the divine Theban triad of Amun, Mut, and Montu.
The complex boasts some of the most impressive examples of ancient Egyptian architecture, including the Hypostyle Hall and the Avenue of Sphinxes. As one of the largest religious complexes ever built, it is a must-visit for anyone interested in ancient Egyptian history and architecture.
Next, you will proceed with your Day Trip to Luxor From Aswan to Hatshepsut Temple.
Queen Hatshepsut Temple:
The west bank of Luxor is home to a stunning monument that reflects the legacy of the great Queen Hatshepsut (1473-1458 BC). Located opposite the Karnak temple, the Hatshepsut temple can be explored to witness the main sanctuary of Amun.
The temple was constructed by Senenmut, the main priest of Amun, and took 15 years to complete. It features three levels adorned with magnificent decorations that showcase the history and achievements of this powerful ruler.
Valley of the Kings:
The New Kingdom Pharaohs of the Eighteenth, Nineteenth, and Twentieth Dynasties (1550-1070 BC) chose to be interred in the Theban Necropolis, which is divided into the East and West Valleys. The Valley of the Kings, located on the west bank of the Nile, contains 63 tombs of some of the most renowned Pharaohs and nobles in Egyptian history.
The site was chosen for its symbolic value, as it witnessed the sun setting at the western end and being reborn and rejuvenated on the eastern horizon. Additionally, the tombs were situated in the protective shadow of a pyramid peak reaching towards the sun.
Enjoy your lunch at a Nile view restaurant, and then you will marvel at the Colossi of Memnon.
Colossi of Memnon:
The Colossi of Memnon, made of dazzling quartzite sandstone, has a rich history dating back to its creation by Amenhotep III in 1350 BC. Serving as guardians of the pharaoh's grand legacy, these statues have stood the test of time and continue to amaze visitors with their imposing presence.
The Roman era left its mark on the Colossi as well, as evidenced by the 107 inscriptions featuring the Greek myth of kings Memnon, as well as references to Amenhotep III's wife Tiye, mother Mutemwiya, and the god of the Nile, Hapi.
Lastly, you will be driven back to the train station to catch your 1st class train back to Aswan. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel, thus concluding your Luxor Day Trip from Aswan.
