Continue your 8 Days Nile Cruise Easter Holiday: Cairo, Luxor, Aswan & Abu Simbel. Start your morning with breakfast on board your Nile cruise, then join your expert Egyptologist guide to explore the wonders of Luxor’s West Bank.
Valley of the Kings:
This legendary valley served as the final resting place for the pharaohs of the New Kingdom (1570–1050 BC). Carved into the Theban hills, it holds over 60 tombs belonging to great rulers such as Tutankhamun, Seti I, Hatshepsut, and Ramses the Great. The richly decorated tombs reveal deep insights into ancient Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife.
Hatshepsut Temple:
Rising gracefully from the desert cliffs, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut is a marvel of ancient architecture. Built in 1479 BC, it honors one of Egypt’s most successful female pharaohs. The temple’s elegant terraces and detailed reliefs celebrate her reign and her devotion to the god Amun.
Colossi of Memnon:
Standing guard at the entrance to ancient Thebes, the Colossi of Memnon are two massive statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, each towering at 18 meters high. Carved around 1350 BC, these iconic figures have withstood the test of time and remain a striking symbol of royal grandeur.
After your tour, return to the cruise to enjoy lunch and dinner on board, followed by a relaxing overnight stay as you continue sailing down the Nile.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Day 5: Cruise to Edfu and Kom Ombo Sights
In the morning, you’ll be taken by horse-drawn carriage to visit one of Egypt’s most remarkable temples:
Edfu Temple:
Dedicated to Horus, the falcon-headed god of protection and victory, Edfu Temple is one of the best-preserved shrines from ancient Egypt.
Built between 237 and 57 BC during the Ptolemaic period, its massive walls and intricate carvings vividly depict the epic battle between Horus and his rival Seth. The temple also offers deep insight into ancient Egyptian language, religious practices, and mythology.
You’ll then continue sailing to Kom Ombo, where you’ll explore:
Kom Ombo Temple:
This unique double temple, built between 180 and 47 BC, is dedicated to two gods: Sobek, the crocodile god of the Nile, and Haroeris (Horus the Elder).
Its symmetrical design reflects this dual devotion. The temple also features fascinating carvings showcasing ancient medical instruments, the calendar of Nile floods, and beliefs about the afterlife.
After your visit, return to your Nile cruise to enjoy lunch and dinner on board. Relax and soak in the scenery during your overnight sail toward Aswan.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Day 6: Step into Philae and Aswan High Dam
After breakfast on board, get ready to continue your 8 Days Easter tour for an unforgettable day exploring the top highlights of Aswan:
Aswan High Dam:
Built in the 1960s, the Aswan High Dam was a major milestone in modern Egypt’s development. It was constructed to control the annual flooding of the Nile, create Lake Nasser, and provide a sustainable source of hydroelectric power for the country.
The Unfinished Obelisk:
Commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut (1508–1458 BC), this massive obelisk was being carved directly from bedrock but cracked before completion. Left in place, it offers a rare look into ancient stone-carving techniques and would have stood 41.75 meters tall and weighed over 1,000 tons.
Philae Temple:
Dedicated to the goddess Isis, Philae Temple is one of Egypt’s most beautiful and spiritually significant temples. Originally built between 380 and 362 BC during the Ptolemaic era, it was relocated to Agilkia Island in the 1960s to save it from flooding caused by the dam.
The temple tells the myth of Isis and Osiris through detailed carvings and a serene setting on the Nile.
You will return to your cruise ship for lunch and dinner.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Day 7: Visit Abu Simbel – Travel to Cairo
After breakfast boxes and checking out from your Nile cruise, you’ll meet your personal driver and Egyptologist guide for an extraordinary journey to:
Abu Simbel Temples:
These awe-inspiring temples, carved into the mountainside by King Ramses II (1279–1213 BC), stand as a timeless tribute to his reign and his victory in the Battle of Kadesh (1247 BC), which led to the world’s first recorded peace treaty.
Abu Simbel is also world-famous for the Sun Festival, held twice a year on February 22 and October 22, when sunlight illuminates the statues of Amun, Ra-Horakhty, and Ramses II seated inside the temple sanctuary.
