A Love Written in Stone: Queen Tiye & Amenhotep III
In Ancient Egypt, Amenhotep III proved that a king’s greatest legacy could be love — the love he shared with Queen Tiye. ❤️
A love story powerful enough to be remembered for over 3,400 years.
A Love Story That Survived 3,400 Years
More than 3,400 years ago in Ancient Egypt, Pharaoh Amenhotep III proved his love in one of the most extraordinary ways ever recorded — a royal romance historians still celebrate today.
The Great Royal Wife — Queen Tiye
Queen Tiye wasn’t born royal, yet she rose to become the beloved Great Royal Wife of Amenhotep III — admired for her intelligence, diplomacy, and powerful influence in Ancient Egypt.
A Lake Built from Love
To show the world how much she meant to him, Amenhotep III ordered a massive lake to be carved from the desert — not for politics, but so Tiye could sail her golden boat beside her palace.
The Royal Boat “Aten”
The lake stretched 3,700 cubits long and 600 cubits wide. When completed, the royal couple sailed upon it in her golden barque “Aten” — a boat crafted for a queen whose love captured a king’s heart.
Love Written in Stone (Amenhotep III & Queen Tiye)
A giant commemorative scarab recorded the moment forever: “The King built this lake for his Great Royal Wife, Tiye… and he sailed upon it with her on the day of its opening.”
What About You?
Would you build a lake for love? 😌 Or is a message enough?
