5 Days Cairo, Luxor & Abu Simbel – Egypt Christmas Tour

After breakfast, travel to Giza for a full day of sightseeing covering the Giza Pyramids Complex and the Grand Egyptian Museum before continuing to Aswan by domestic flight.

Giza Pyramids Complex:

The Giza Pyramids Complex includes the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple. The site served as the funerary complex for the rulers of the Fourth Dynasty.

The Great Pyramid of Khufu:

You visit the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the only surviving structure of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Built as the tomb of Pharaoh Khufu, it is the largest of the three main pyramids on the Giza Plateau. Entry inside the Great Pyramid is optional and is not included in the tour price.

The Great Sphinx:

You walk to the Great Sphinx, which has the body of a lion and the head of a king. Standing beside the pyramid complex on the Giza Plateau, the monument is traditionally associated with Pharaoh Khafre.

The Valley Temple:

You explore the Valley Temple, which formed part of the funerary complex of Pharaoh Khafre and was associated with royal funerary ceremonies. Its construction features large limestone and granite blocks.

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM):

You explore the Grand Egyptian Museum, which houses more than 100,000 artifacts from ancient Egyptian history, including the golden treasures of King Tutankhamun. Entry to the museum is arranged according to the available admission schedule. After lunch at a local restaurant, transfer to Cairo Airport for your domestic flight to Aswan. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for the overnight stay.

The 5 Days Egypt Christmas Tour includes Abu Simbel as a dedicated southern Egypt stop before the route continues to Luxor. After breakfast, you travel from Aswan early to visit the temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari.

Abu Simbel Temples:

You’ll be amazed when you explore the Abu Simbel Temples that were carved into the rock during the reign of Ramses II and include the Great Temple of Ramses II and the smaller temple dedicated to Hathor and Queen Nefertari. The temples stand near Lake Nasser in southern Egypt and form part of the UNESCO-listed Nubian Monuments. The colossal statues flanking the entrance and the intricate interior reliefs showcase the grandeur, precision, and artistic brilliance of ancient Egypt.

After visiting Abu Simbel, return to Aswan for lunch before taking a first-class train to Luxor. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and check in for the overnight stay.

After breakfast, begin the Luxor sightseeing program on the city’s east and west banks, visiting Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon.

Karnak Temple:

Karnak Temple is a large temple complex of sanctuaries, pylons and colossal columns dedicated primarily to the Theban god Amun. Its Hypostyle Hall contains 134 documented columns arranged in rows within the main hall.

Valley of the Kings:

The Valley of the Kings served as a royal burial ground for pharaohs of the New Kingdom. More than 60 tombs and burial chambers have been identified in the valley, including the tomb of Tutankhamun. Admire the vivid wall paintings that have survived thousands of years, telling stories of gods, goddesses, and eternal life.

Queen Hatshepsut Temple:

The Temple of Queen Hatshepsut stands at Deir el-Bahari on Luxor’s west bank. The temple was built for Hatshepsut and is arranged in terraces against the limestone cliffs.

Colossi of Memnon:

You see the Colossi of Memnon, two large stone statues representing Pharaoh Amenhotep III. They stand on Luxor’s west bank near the remains of Amenhotep III’s mortuary temple. The statues are more than 3,000 years old.

After lunch at a local restaurant, transfer to Luxor Airport for the evening flight back to Cairo. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for the final overnight stay.

After breakfast, complete your hotel check-out and transfer by private air-conditioned vehicle to Cairo International Airport for your departure flight.

This five-day Christmas tour includes four hotel nights: two in Cairo, one in Aswan and one in Luxor.
