Luxor Temple:

Continue to Luxor Temple, an impressive ancient complex located on the east bank of the Nile. Construction began during the reign of Pharaoh Amenhotep III and was later expanded by rulers including Tutankhamun and Ramses II.

Explore its grand entrance, statues, courtyards, colonnades, and the surviving section of the Avenue of Sphinxes that once connected Luxor Temple with Karnak Temple.

Although much of the original temple was lost over time, the two monumental statues remain among the most recognizable landmarks on Luxor’s West Bank.

Visit the impressive mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, also known as Djeser-Djeseru. Built against the limestone cliffs of Deir El-Bahari, the temple is distinguished by its terraces, colonnades, and carefully carved reliefs.

The temple was dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut and the god Amun, and its scenes commemorate important events from her reign, including her famous trading expedition to the Land of Punt.
