Day 5: Transfer to Bahariya Oasis – Desert Camp
Check-out your hotel in Cairo and your private escort will drive you via 4X4 Jeep vehicle to explore:
Bahariya Oasis:
Bahariya Oasis is just 365 kilometers from Cairo, and it is the easiest oasis to reach in the Western Desert of Egypt.
During the Pharaonic era, Bahariya Oasis was a major center of agriculture because its strategic location on the Libya–Nile Valley caravan routes ensured it prospered throughout later ages.
In recent years, archeological discoveries and easy transportation from Cairo to the beauties and secrets of Egypt’s Western Desert have earned Bahariya Oasis a firm spot on the tourist map.
Black Desert:
The Black Desert is an area of volcano-shaped and widely spaced mountains, distributed along about 30 km in western Egypt between the White Desert in the south and the Bahariya Oasis in the north.
Most of its formations are covered by basalt sills, giving them the characteristic black color. The mounds of the Black Desert, up to 100 meters high, variable in size, composition, height, and shape as some are dark consisting of iron quartzite while others are more reddish as its surface rocks consist of iron sandstone.
On the borders of the Black Desert are volcanic hills proving the eruption of dark volcanic dolerite, dating back to the Jurassic age 180 million years ago.
El Heiz Village:
El Heiz, also known as El-Hayez, is the southernmost village, but it may not always be considered as part of Bahariya because it is so far from the rest of the villages, about 50 kilometers south of El Bawiti which is the capital of Bahariya Oasis.
There is an oasis at El-Hayez where nummulites have been found sparkled on which genetic studies have been conducted.
After a delightful lunch stop, you will head out to visit:
Valley of Agabat:
Agabat, which is known as the Beautiful Valley is in the Western Desert of Egypt and generally is the stop off destination for travelers on their way to Bahariya Oasis.
There are no settlements at all in Agabat as the land is so hard and very extreme temperatures in the summer months would make living extremely difficult.
Despite Agabat is smaller and considered a small valley in comparison to the Bahariya area, it is very attractive in its own unique way. With beautiful mountain formations and many white cliffs faces like the White Desert.
White Desert:
White Desert in Egypt is one of the several national reserves of this country which is a small area in the west of Egypt and far about 500 km from capital, Cairo.
White Desert in Egypt is part of the Sahara Desert which is about 300 km² and situated along the road between the oases of Bahariya and Farafra.
Millions of years ago, there was an ocean floor here, but after the gathering of water and drainage there by the aid of weathering and erosion factors remained karst limestone formations that formed stunningly beautiful and bizarre landscapes such as devil's tables and mushrooms.
Getting to the White Desert is not easy, but it is a must-visit destination for any traveler to Egypt.
After the 1st day in the oasis is concluded, you will enjoy a mesmerizing night camping plus dinner in the desert.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 6: End Oasis Tour – Back to Cairo
Breakfast at the campsite and you will then discover:
Crystal Mountain:
The crystal mountain crown decorates the white desert and is one of the richest treasures of the Farafra Oasis. The mountain is situated 160 km from the Bahariya Oasis.
They are unique hills made of over 12 types of crystal-like stones that combine to form a stunning natural look. The mountain is characterized as one of the most attractive natural areas in the White Desert Reserve.
It is a mountain consisting of crystals of metamorphosed Calcite rocks. Crystal Mountain is unique in its kind, as the precious shiny crystals are considered one of the precious rocks that have no similarity in the world.
Geologists consider this to be an exhumed cave, a cave complete with stalagmites and stalactites that has been thrust upwards by earth movement and, with time, has lost its roof to erosion and weathering and has almost weathered away.
