2 Days Cairo Tour from Hurghada by plane Itinerary

Your journey begins with a private transfer from your hotel in Hurghada to Hurghada Airport, coordinated with your flight timing. After your domestic flight to Cairo, your Egyptologist guide will meet you and accompany you throughout the day’s sightseeing.

Giza Pyramids Complex:

Begin at the Giza Plateau, home to the three great pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. Built more than 4,500 years ago, these monumental structures served as royal tombs and demonstrate the extraordinary planning and engineering abilities of ancient Egyptian builders.

The complex also includes temples, satellite pyramids, causeways, and other structures that formed an important part of the royal funerary landscape.

The Great Pyramid of Cheops:

Continue to the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the largest pyramid at Giza and the only surviving Wonder of the Ancient World. It originally reached approximately 147 meters in height and was constructed from millions of limestone blocks.

Built during the Fourth Dynasty, the pyramid served as the tomb of Pharaoh Khufu and remains one of the most remarkable architectural achievements of the ancient world. Its passages and geometry still spark debate—an engineering riddle that has outlived empires.

The Great Sphinx:

Next, stand before the Great Sphinx, one of Egypt’s most recognizable monuments. Carved from a single limestone formation, the colossal statue combines the body of a lion with the head of a pharaoh and is generally associated with King Khafre.

Estimated to date to around 2500 BC, the Sphinx continues to raise questions about its original purpose and construction. The Sphinx has inspired legends for millennia, from the Dream Stela to modern theories about its builders and purpose.

The Valley Temple:

Visit the Valley Temple of Khafre, a remarkably well-preserved structure constructed from large limestone and granite blocks.

The temple was connected with the funerary rituals of Khafre. Its preserved architecture provides valuable insight into Old Kingdom religious and mortuary practices.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Saqqara.

Saqqara Step Pyramid:

Travel south to Saqqara, where you will see the Step Pyramid of Djoser. Designed by the architect Imhotep for King Djoser, the monument consists of six ascending tiers and represents a major development in ancient Egyptian pyramid architecture.

Its innovative stone construction established an important foundation for the pyramid-building traditions that followed. Tombs, courtyards, and ceremonial structures stitch together a blueprint that later pyramids refined—an essential stop for understanding Egypt’s leap into stone.

Memphis City:

Continue to Memphis, Egypt’s first capital and an important political and religious center during the early periods of Egyptian history.

The remaining statues, monuments, and archaeological evidence provide a glimpse into the city’s former importance and its role in the development of the unified Egyptian state. Politics, religion, and craftsmanship met here on the edge of the Nile Delta.

After sightseeing, check in at your Cairo hotel in your selected category and enjoy a comfortable overnight stay.

Meals: Lunch

After breakfast at your hotel, meet your guide and continue exploring Cairo. The second day focuses on the city’s archaeological collections, medieval architecture, and traditional market streets.

The Egyptian Museum:

Visit the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, with artifacts representing thousands of years of Egyptian history.

The collection includes monumental statues, royal objects, and jewelry. Walking through its galleries offers a broad overview of Egypt’s ancient civilization and artistic heritage.

National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC):

Continue to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC), where Egypt’s history is presented across different periods through archaeological collections and modern displays. Its displays connect daily life, crafts, and belief systems across eras—from prehistory to the modern state.

One of its major attractions is the Royal Mummies Hall, which provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about some of ancient Egypt’s most famous rulers and their burial traditions.

Salah El Din Citadel:

Next, visit Salah El Din Citadel, one of Cairo’s most prominent medieval landmarks. Construction began in 1176 under Salah El Din to strengthen Cairo’s defenses.

Over the centuries, the citadel developed into an important center of political power. Its elevated position also provides impressive views across parts of historic Cairo.

Mohamed Ali Mosque:

Inside the citadel, explore the Mohamed Ali Mosque, widely known as the Alabaster Mosque because of its extensive use of alabaster in its interior and exterior design.

Its large Ottoman-inspired domes, tall minarets, marble surfaces, and spacious interior make it one of the most recognizable landmarks in Cairo. Inside, chandeliers and calligraphy create a serene counterpoint to Cairo’s lively streets below.

Khan El Khalili Bazaar:

End your Cairo sightseeing at Khan El Khalili, one of the city’s most famous traditional markets. The bazaar has been an important commercial area since the 14th century and remains filled with shops, workshops, cafés, and narrow historic lanes.

Browse traditional handicrafts, spices, jewelry, and souvenirs while experiencing the lively atmosphere of historic Cairo. The market also offers opportunities for photos and people-watching.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant after your visit to Khan El Khalili.

After completing your sightseeing, transfer to Cairo Airport for your domestic flight back to Hurghada. Upon arrival, our representative will meet you and provide private transportation back to your hotel, bringing your two-day journey to an end.
