2 Days Luxor & Abu Simbel Tour from Hurghada Itinerary

Your journey begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Hurghada, at a time coordinated with you. Travel by private air-conditioned vehicle to Luxor, where you will meet your Egyptologist guide and begin exploring the monuments on both banks of the Nile.

Temple of Queen Hatshepsut

Start at the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari. Constructed during Hatshepsut’s reign from 1473 to 1458 BC, the temple is built into the limestone cliffs in a distinctive three-terrace design.

Dedicated to Amun-Ra, the monument reflects Hatshepsut’s royal authority and her connection to the god. Its reliefs also preserve scenes associated with her reign and the famous expedition to the Land of Punt.

Valley of the Kings

Continue to the Valley of the Kings on Luxor’s West Bank. The valley served as a royal necropolis during the New Kingdom, particularly for rulers of the 18th, 19th, and 20th Dynasties.

The site contains more than 60 tombs and burial complexes, including those associated with famous rulers such as Ramses II, Seti I, and Tutankhamun. Inside the tombs, decorated walls preserve inscriptions and scenes connected with ancient Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife.

Colossi of Memnon

Visit the Colossi of Memnon, two monumental quartzite sandstone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. Each statue stands approximately 18 meters high and dates to around 1350 BC.

The figures once stood at the entrance to Amenhotep III’s enormous mortuary temple. Although much of the temple has disappeared, the two statues remain prominent landmarks on Luxor’s West Bank.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to the East Bank.

Karnak Temple Complex

Explore Karnak Temple, one of the largest and most important religious complexes in ancient Egypt. Its construction and expansion continued over many centuries, with major contributions from numerous pharaohs.

The complex was dedicated primarily to Amun and contains monumental pylons, obelisks, sanctuaries, and the Great Hypostyle Hall, which features 134 massive columns.

It was revered as “the most select of places.” Its colossal Hypostyle Hall and vast pylons highlight the architectural mastery of the New Kingdom.

You can also see the Avenue of Sphinxes, the ceremonial route that connected Karnak with Luxor Temple and played an important role in ancient religious processions.

Train to Aswan

In the evening, transfer by private coach to Luxor Railway Station and board a first-class train to Aswan.

Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your selected hotel for check-in and an overnight stay.

Meals: Lunch

Start early in the morning with your breakfast box before heading south from Aswan to Abu Simbel by private air-conditioned vehicle with your private guide.

The route from Hurghada to Abu Simbel is part of a carefully arranged two-day journey that combines Luxor’s major archaeological sites with one of the most important monuments of ancient Nubia.

Abu Simbel Temples

Explore the two temples of Abu Simbel, carved directly into the sandstone cliffs during the 13th century BC.

The temples form part of a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The larger temple was built by Pharaoh Ramses II and is famous for the four colossal seated statues that dominate its entrance. The smaller temple was dedicated to Queen Nefertari and honors the goddess Hathor.

Originally built in Nubia in southern Egypt, the temples were relocated during the 1960s to protect them from the rising waters created by the construction of the Aswan High Dam. The relocation project preserved the monuments in their entirety and became one of the most notable archaeological preservation efforts of the 20th century.

After exploring the temples, return to Aswan by private air-conditioned vehicle and enjoy lunch at a traditional local restaurant.

Then, transfer to Aswan Railway Station and board a first-class train to Qena. Upon arrival, a private vehicle will take you back to your hotel in Hurghada, bringing your journey to an end.

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

This two-day tour includes one overnight stay in your selected Aswan hotel. You will explore the temples and royal tombs of ancient Thebes, travel south to Aswan, spend the night there, and then continue to the monumental temples of Abu Simbel before returning to Hurghada.

Sightseeing includes Hatshepsut Temple, the Valley of the Kings, the Colossi of Memnon, Karnak Temple Complex and Abu Simbel Temples. The package includes first-class train travel from Luxor to Aswan, with private road transfers, guides and sightseeing. The return journey continues from Aswan to Qena by first-class train and then by private vehicle to your hotel in Hurghada.
