Continue to Saqqara, one of Egypt’s most important ancient burial grounds.

Here, you’ll discover the Step Pyramid of Djoser, designed by the renowned architect Imhotep during the 27th century BC. Generally regarded as the world’s earliest large-scale stone pyramid, its six ascending levels represent an important development in ancient Egyptian architecture.

Memphis City

Your final archaeological stop is Memphis, one of the most important cities in ancient Egypt and traditionally regarded as one of Egypt’s earliest capitals.

The city was closely associated with Ptah, the god of craftsmen and creation, and once contained monumental temples and royal structures. Although much of ancient Memphis has disappeared, the surviving statues, reliefs, and archaeological remains provide a fascinating glimpse into its former importance.
