Day 1: Cairo to Alexandria Sightseeing

Start your Overnight Alexandria Tour from Cairo.

In the morning, one of our representatives will pick you up from your hotel or cruise, then we will travel to Alexandria, and there your private guide will take you to visit:

Qaitbay Citadel:

Qaitbay Citadel is a massive and strong defensive fortress situated on the coast of the Mediterranean; the citadel was constructed by Sultan Al- Ashraf Saif Al- Din Qaitbay from 1477 to 1479 AD.

The huge walls and halls of the citadel reaching four meters in height reflect the power and strength of the Mamluk architecture.

Library of Alexandria:

The Library of Alexandria is considered one of the oldest libraries and the most significant and largest library in the ancient world.

The old library was built by the successors of Alexander the Great, but the modern one was opened in 2002 including massive collections of books and documents, some of them go back to more than 2000 years.

You will indulge into a delightful lunch at a fish restaurant then you head out to visit:

Pompey's Pillar:

Pompey's pillar was one of the wonders of the ancient world. This column was a Roman triumphal column which is the only ancient monumental structure that has still stood in its original place until now. Its height reaches about 27 meters.

Catacombs of Kom El-Shoqafa:

The Catacombs of Kom El-Shoqafa is a historical archaeological site in Alexandria, it's also considered one of the seven wonders of the Middle Ages including several tombs, statues, and archaeological objects of the pharaonic funerary.

This marvelous site blends cultures of Greek, Roman and Egyptian.

Day 2: Continue to Alexandria – Back to Cairo

Wake up to a blissful breakfast at your hotel then you will visit:

The Roman Amphitheater:

The Roman Amphitheatre is in the area near the Kom El Dekka district. The charming Roman Theatre contains marble seating for seven to eight hundred, cruder galleries for the plebs, and a forecourt with two patches of mosaic flooring. In Byzantine times, gladiatorial games were superseded by chariot races.

It is regarded as one of the most significant archaeological sites of achievement as it was discovered by accident in 1960, when construction workers were preparing the site to establish a new structure.

Montazah Gardens:

Al Montazah Palace is one of the greatest destinations in Alexandria. Montazah Palace is remarkable by its charming and large gardens and royal palaces remaining from its royal heritage.

The gardens of the Montazah Palace are a tourist attraction for the memory of those who visit Alexandria because of their vast extension and attractiveness.

These have an area of about 46 hectares that surrounds all the palace, and these also are surrounded by walls from all sides except that to the north extends to the Alexandrian beach.

Mursi Abu Abbas Mosque:

Mursi Abu Abbas is Alexandria’s most massive mosque; it was founded primarily in 1775 to honor the life of the thirteenth century Andalusian Sheikh Ahmed Al Abbas Al Mursi who was buried on the site.

This marvelous mosque is located in the Anfoushi neighborhood of Alexandria, near the Citadel of Qaitbay. The Mosque was redeveloped and reconstructed in today’s current form by Eugenio Valzania and Mario Rossi in the years 1929 to 1945.

Saint Mark's Cathedral:

Saint Mark's Cathedral stands on the site of the church founded by St. Mark the Evangelist in AC 60. St. Mark the Evangelist is author of the second Gospel. He was related to the city of Alexandria since earliest Christian tradition.

Coptic Christians think he came to Alexandria around AD 60 and stayed for about seven years. In fact, during this time, Mark converted many to Christianity and showed many miracles. He was originally the founder of the church in Alexandria and the first Bishop of Alexandria.

After lunch, you will witness:

Alexander the Great Statue:

The breathtaking bronze statue of Alexander the Great riding his loyal companion of 20 years, Bucephalus, dominates Thessaloniki's Nea Paralia, a few meters away from another city famous landmark, the White Tower.

This is one of the city's most distinguished sights, which was established in 1973 with public fundraising. It was unveiled in 1974. The equestrian statue of the Macedonian commander was created by the sculptor Evangelos Moustakas and is the tallest in Greece, reaching almost 6.15 meters in height.
