The Giza Pyramids Complex is an awe-inspiring structure, established in 2600 BC by the pharaohs of the Old Kingdom to reflect the ingenuity and innovation of the Egyptian architecture.

This archaeological ruin is a witness on the three famed pyramids, the Sphinx and many more of ancient valuable constructions.

 

The Great Pyramid of Giza:

The Great Pyramid is a celestial establishment, towering throughout the years to be the first pyramid ever built at the Giza necropolis. The pyramid is living evidence of the brilliance of Pharaoh Khufu’s reign (2609-2584 BC).

At a height of 146 meters, it stood as the last surviving treasure of the ancient World Wonders and the largest monumental creation on earth for over 3800 years.

 

The Sphinx of Giza:

The Sphinx is an enormous limestone sculpture and the icon of Ancient Egypt, which was constructed by Pharaoh Khafre (2558-2532 BC).

This historical symbol had been carved out of a single block of limestone on a lion’s body with a royal pharaonic head. The Sphinx measures 73 meters in length with a height of 20 meters and a width of 19 meters.

 

The Valley Temple:

The Valley Temple is one of the 4th dynasty’s treasures which is located at the necropolis of Giza beside the striking pyramids and Sphinx.

Sultan Al- Ashraf Sayf Al-Din Qaitbay was the one who ordered the construction of this everlasting fortress between 1477 and 1479 AD at the same place of the ancient Alexandria Lighthouse.

 

Library of Alexandria:

Alexandria Library is one of the oldest and the most significant scientific centers on earth.

It was built by the successors of Alexander the Great, it includes massive collections of books and documents, some of them date back to more than 2000 years.

 

The Pompey's Pillar:

An ancient Roman masterpiece decorates Alexandria is the Pompey’s Pillar. It is a victorious column, which was set up between 298 and 302 AD of granite to glorify the establishments of Emperor Diocletian. It's the only remaining monument still standing in its original shape and location in Alexandria.

This mortuary temple is not simply a tomb that would have housed Hatshepsut's body, but a huge complex for celebrations and rituals, which also houses small shrines for some of Egypt's ancient gods.

 

The Valley of the Kings:

The Valley of the Kings was a new beginning for the New Kingdom of Pharaonic Egypt and was thus a test and initiative for the presence of furnished and rock-cut tombs for the kings of the 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties.

It’s listed one of the largest burial ground in history where over 60 pharaohs were buried with their belongings for many thousands of years.

 

Colossi of Memnon:

The Colossi of Memnon were established to defend the entrance to Amenhotep III's mortuary temple and symbolize the pharaoh's power.

The twin statues of Memnon were carved out of blocks of pink quartzite from the quarries of Gebel el-Silsila and transported along the Nile to Luxor.

Philae is a phenomenal erection of pure bliss and magnificence that dates back to the Ptolemaic reign between 380 and 362 BC.

This wonderful monument is famous for its eye-catching carvings and artistic decorations, which depict the tales and myths of the goddesses Isis and Osiris.

 

The Unfinished Obelisk:

Unfinished Obelisk was carved under the orders of Queen Hatshepsut (1508-1458 BC) out of the divine granite quarries of Aswan.

It was planned to be the largest obelisk on earth. However, the construction process suddenly stopped after large cracks appeared in the rocks and the project was eventually abandoned.

 

Aswan High Dam:

The High Dam is one of the most essential projects created in the 20th century. It came into existence during the reign of President Gamal Abd El Nasser.

This significant creation gained its importance from its historical role in generating huge amount of energy and electricity and saving the country during the Nile floods.

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization:

The Hanging Church:

The Hanging Church is the oldest and best-known Coptic landmark in Egypt. It came into existence in the 3rd century over the southern gates of the Fortress of Babylon.

This extraordinary church proudly decorates the heart of Old Cairo with captivating interiors and exteriors, including some magical artistic works.

 

Ben Ezra Synagogue:

Ben Ezra is an exquisite Jewish monument in Cairo, which is established in the same place where baby Moses was found. The synagogue displays a unique heritage of abandoned Hebrew and Aramaic.

The site was mainly built as a church then it became a majestic Jewish synagogue in 882 AD, presenting the finest treasures of Jewish objects.

 

Khan Al-Khalili Bazaar:

Khan El Khalili is an ancient Mamluk bazaar which came into existence between 1382 and 1389 AD. The site is a good chance for a memorable shopping experience to purchase clothes, perfumes, papyrus, species, etc. Even if you would not prefer to do shopping,

the site is still a must-see highlight to stroll down, follow the locals and to sit a while for some coffee.

Muhammed Ali Mosque:

Muhammed Ali Mosque amazingly decorates the Cairo Citadel. The Alabaster Mosque – as it’s known - was ordered by Muhammed Ali Pasha and designed by the brilliant architect Youssuf Bushnak in 1830 AD.

The site is one of the finest Islamic symbols, which displays the brilliance of Ottoman architecture.

Sultan Hassan Mosque and Madrassa:

The Mosque of Sultan Hassan is one of the best-known Islamic monuments on earth, founded by Sultan Hassan (1355-1363 AD).

This beautiful mosque is incredible vastness, standing at a height of 36 meters and a length of 150 meters and it's also regarded as the most symmetrical and compatible ruin of Islamic Cairo.

 

Al Rifa'i Mosque:

Another Islamic treasure decorates the capital’s heart is Al Rifai Mosque. Kushiar Hanem, the mother of Khedive Ismail, was the one who ordered the mosque’s construction in 1869 AD to be the mausoleum of the royal family and Hussein Fahmy Pasha was the one who designed and built the mosque to include tombs inside for the members of the royal family.
