Giza Pyramids Complex:

Begin at the Giza Plateau, home to the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. As you explore the complex, your guide will explain how these monumental tombs were constructed and what they reveal about royal life, burial traditions, and engineering in ancient Egypt.

The Great Pyramid of Khufu:

See the Great Pyramid of Khufu up close and take in the extraordinary scale of its massive limestone blocks. Built more than 4,500 years ago, it is the largest pyramid at Giza and the only surviving Wonder of the Ancient World.

The Great Sphinx:

Continue to the Great Sphinx, the monumental figure with the body of a lion and the head of a king. Your guide will introduce your family to its history, symbolism, and the questions that still surround one of Egypt’s most recognizable ancient monuments.

The Valley Temple:

Beside the Sphinx, visit the Valley Temple of Khafre, an important part of the pharaoh’s funerary complex. Its enormous limestone and granite blocks offer a striking example of the craftsmanship and architectural skill of the Old Kingdom.

Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM):

After breakfast at your hotel, your private Egyptologist guide and driver will take you on a full-day trip from Cairo to Alexandria. Located on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast, the city offers a fascinating contrast to Cairo, with seaside views and landmarks reflecting its Egyptian, Greek, Roman, and Islamic heritage. The drive usually takes around three hours each way, depending on traffic.

Begin your Alexandria tour at Qaitbay Citadel, a 15th-century fortress overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The citadel occupies the site where the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria once stood and offers impressive views across the Eastern Harbor.

Bibliotheca Alexandrina:

Continue to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a modern cultural center created in tribute to the legendary ancient Library of Alexandria. Discover its distinctive circular design and vast reading hall while learning about the library’s role as a center for knowledge, research, and culture.

Pompey’s Pillar:

Next, visit Pompey’s Pillar, a towering red granite column standing among the remains of the ancient Serapeum. Despite its name, the monument was erected in honor of the Roman emperor Diocletian and provides another glimpse into Alexandria’s Roman history.

Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa:

Descend into the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, an extensive Roman-period burial complex carved beneath the city. Its chambers, statues, and wall reliefs reveal a remarkable combination of ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman artistic and funerary traditions.

Day 8: Journey to Luxor & East Bank

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and leave Hurghada for Luxor by private air-conditioned vehicle. As your family travels away from the Red Sea, the scenery gradually changes from coastal landscapes to the desert surroundings of the Nile Valley.

Upon arrival in Luxor, you will be transferred to the dock to board your Nile cruise. After checking into your cabin, enjoy lunch on board and take some time to settle in before meeting your private Egyptologist guide for an afternoon tour of Luxor’s East Bank. This marks the beginning of your family’s four-night Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan.

Karnak Temple:

Begin at Karnak Temple, an immense religious complex developed by generations of ancient Egyptian rulers. Walk together through its vast courtyards and the towering columns of the Great Hypostyle Hall while your guide explains the stories, beliefs, and royal ceremonies connected with ancient Thebes.

Luxor Temple:

Continue to Luxor Temple in the heart of the city. Explore its grand entrance, statues, columns, and courtyards as your guide reveals how different rulers contributed to the temple over many centuries. Its central location and impressive architecture make it an enjoyable introduction to Luxor for the whole family.

After exploring the East Bank, return to the cruise for dinner and your first overnight stay on board in Luxor.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

9

Day 9: Luxor's West Bank

After breakfast on board, meet your private Egyptologist guide and cross to Luxor’s West Bank, where the ancient Egyptians built temples and royal tombs associated with their beliefs about death and the afterlife. Today, your family will explore some of the area’s most remarkable monuments before returning to the cruise to continue along the Nile.

Valley of the Kings:

Begin at the Valley of the Kings, the burial place of many New Kingdom pharaohs. Your entrance ticket includes access to three of the tombs open on the day of your visit, where your family can see remarkably preserved paintings and hieroglyphic scenes. Before you enter, your guide will explain the royal burial traditions and the ancient beliefs represented inside the tombs. Tombs requiring separate tickets are not included unless stated otherwise.

Temple of Queen Hatshepsut:

Continue to the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, built in a series of terraces beneath the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. As you explore the temple together, learn about one of ancient Egypt’s most successful female rulers and discover scenes depicting important events from her reign.

Colossi of Memnon:

Stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two enormous seated statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that once stood at the entrance to his mortuary temple. This brief visit gives the whole family time to appreciate their scale and take photographs before returning to the cruise.

Return to the ship for lunch and enjoy the afternoon together as the cruise begins sailing toward Edfu. Relax on board and watch the landscapes of the Nile Valley pass by before dinner and an overnight stay on the cruise.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

10

Day 10: Sailing and Temples of Kom Ombo & Edfu

After breakfast on board, enjoy the views together as your Nile cruise continues through Upper Egypt. Green fields, palm trees, and villages along the riverbanks provide a relaxing backdrop as your family travels toward the day’s first ancient site.

Edfu Temple:

Upon reaching Edfu, disembark with your private Egyptologist guide to visit the Temple of Horus, one of the best-preserved ancient temples in Egypt. Pass through its enormous pylon and explore the courtyards, halls, and sanctuary while your guide explains the temple’s history and the stories represented in its detailed wall reliefs.

Return to the cruise after your visit and enjoy lunch on board as the ship continues sailing toward Kom Ombo. There will also be time for your family to relax together and watch the changing scenery along the Nile.

Kom Ombo Temple:

Later, visit the unusual double temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to two deities: Sobek, the crocodile god, and Harwer, or Horus the Elder. Its two parallel sections make the temple unlike any other in Egypt. As you explore together, your guide will point out notable carvings, including a calendar of temple rituals and festivals and a scene showing ancient surgical instruments.

After the visit, return to the cruise for dinner as the ship continues toward Aswan. Enjoy a peaceful evening with your family and stay overnight on board.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

11

Day 11: The Great Temples of Abu Simbel

Your family will begin the day early for a private journey from Aswan to Abu Simbel. A packed breakfast will be arranged before you leave the cruise, and you will travel south in a private air-conditioned vehicle. The drive takes approximately three to four hours, giving everyone time to rest and watch the desert landscapes along the way.

Abu Simbel Temples:

Upon arrival, stand before the two monumental rock-cut temples commissioned by Ramses II. The façade of the Great Temple is dominated by four colossal statues of the king, creating one of ancient Egypt’s most recognizable sights. Nearby stands the smaller Temple of Hathor and Queen Nefertari, distinguished by the impressive statues of the king and queen across its façade.

Before you enter, your private Egyptologist guide will explain the history and purpose of both temples and introduce your family to the stories represented in their carvings. You will also learn how an international UNESCO campaign dismantled and relocated the temples during the 1960s, saving them from the rising waters of Lake Nasser.

After exploring Abu Simbel, return to Aswan by private vehicle and rejoin your Nile cruise for lunch. Spend the remainder of the afternoon relaxing together on board before dinner and your final overnight stay on the cruise in Aswan.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

12

Day 12: Aswan's Famous Sights

After breakfast, check out of your Nile cruise and meet your private Egyptologist guide for a morning tour of Aswan. Before flying back to Cairo, your family will explore three of the city’s most important landmarks and discover a different side of Egypt’s ancient and modern history.

The High Dam:

Begin at the Aswan High Dam, one of modern Egypt’s most significant engineering projects. From the viewing area, take in the vast scenery around Lake Nasser while your guide explains how the dam helps regulate the flow of the Nile, store water, and generate electricity.

Philae Temple:

Continue to the marina and take a motorboat to Agilkia Island, where the Philae temple complex now stands. Dedicated primarily to the goddess Isis, its gateways, courtyards, and detailed reliefs provide an enjoyable setting for your family to explore together. Your guide will also explain how the monuments were dismantled and relocated from Philae Island to protect them from rising water.

The Unfinished Obelisk:

Your final visit is the Unfinished Obelisk in Aswan’s ancient granite quarries. Still attached to the bedrock, the enormous monument offers a clear look at the techniques used by ancient Egyptian stoneworkers. Your family can see the quarrying trenches and tool marks and learn why the obelisk was abandoned after cracks appeared in the granite.

After the tour, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before transferring to Aswan Airport for your flight to Cairo. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred by private air-conditioned vehicle to your hotel for check-in and an overnight stay.

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

13

Day 13: Flight to Cairo & Old Cairo

After breakfast at your hotel, meet your private Egyptologist guide for a full day exploring Cairo’s ancient, Islamic, and Coptic heritage. Your family will visit two important museums before continuing through Old Cairo and ending the day among the historic streets of Khan el-Khalili.

The Egyptian Museum:

Begin at the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, one of Cairo’s most historic museums. Explore a wide-ranging collection of ancient statues, coffins, papyri, jewellery, and everyday objects while your guide highlights selected pieces and explains what they reveal about life, beliefs, and royal history in ancient Egypt.

National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC):

Continue to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, where the displays trace Egypt’s development from prehistoric times to the modern era. The highlight is the Royal Mummies Hall, where your family can see the preserved remains of ancient Egyptian kings and queens presented in a carefully designed setting.

After visiting the museums, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing your tour through the historic districts of Old Cairo.

Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque:

Visit Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque, located on the site where the first mosque in Egypt and Africa was established. Your guide will explain its role in the early development of Islamic Cairo and how the mosque changed through repeated expansions and reconstructions over the centuries.

The Hanging Church & Ben Ezra Synagogue:

Continue through Coptic Cairo to the Hanging Church, built above the southern gatehouse of the Roman Fortress of Babylon. Then visit the nearby Ben Ezra Synagogue and learn about the Jewish community that formed part of Cairo’s long and diverse religious history. Exploring these landmarks together gives your family a closer look at the different communities that have shaped the city.

Khan el-Khalili Bazaar:

End the day at Khan el-Khalili, Cairo’s historic bazaar. Walk together through its narrow lanes lined with shops selling jewellery, lanterns, spices, textiles, and traditional handicrafts. There will be time to experience the atmosphere of Islamic Cairo and shop for souvenirs before leaving the market.

After the tour, return to your hotel for your final overnight stay in Cairo.
